Life Lately

July 14, 2016

Happy Thursday! Hope your week is going amazing!

I currently have a pork loin + veggies cooking away in the crock-pot, while listening to a sermon and blogging. Apparently, multi-tasking is my jam! Today's sermon is about trusting in God; not being mediocre in life and not being afraid of failure and taking risks. When we have God on our side and are following his path, there is no way that we can't succeed! I was just talking to my sister this morning about the exact same thing. I am constantly praying over my business and asking God to guide me in everything that I do. I know that putting my life and business in his hands, that I won't go wrong!

So I haven't really done that much this week, but I was still able to get a few things accomplished.

This weeks going on's:

>> Friday- had my hair cut and I love the new style! The hubby also took me to go shopping and I found some jewelry and a new handbag. It was so nice to get out of the house after being cooped up all week!
>> Sunday- went to my Mom's for my Brother in Law's birthday
>> Ordered some vitamins and Probiotics on iHerb for myself and my Mom. I love using iHerb because I earn money back every time that I shop + if you order $20 you can bag free shipping!
>> Painted Garage entrance door
>> Hubby hung 3 pictures! (have one mirror left to hang above the entry table)
>> Started 2 new client projects this week
>> Learned some new things in my business this week- Convert-Kit and some new social media scheduling tips

Tuesday night, we had a really bad storm and a huge pine tree fell down, just missing our house! Needless to say, I have been picking up limbs all week. I was thanking God that it didn't fall on our house- what a blessing!! It's been raining so much here lately that we haven't been able to do too much swimming. We were finally able to go yesterday and I was able to get in over an hour of exercise.

We have been working really hard lately and I am personally so ready for a mini vacation. The summer is flying by so fast- I can't believe we are in the middle of July already!I'm hoping to go to the beach soon, even if it's only for one day.

I plan on finishing up some client work + emails today and then I will be heading to the pool with the hubby this afternoon. Friday night will either be movies or going out with friends. Either way, I'm excited for the weekend!

Have any exciting plans for the weekend?

WHERE DO I START???

Well isn't that the very question every person asks themselves when they want to pursue something new
and out of their comfort zone. However, Melinda Pollard has been very kind to lend a hand to all "starting-up" VAs
in this amazing, honest and insightful manual on how to take your first step or steps...

When I came across this book, even at first glance, I was impressed and couldn't wait to get my teeth sunk into it
(like a delicious cupcake). When I finally sat down and started reading it, it felt like Melinda was right there on the
couch, holding a cup of tea and just handing over all of this wisdom and knowledge that she had discovered.
That is how easy it was... She has a way of explaining intricate details, in the simplest words so that everyone
can understand and implement it into their lives. The honesty in this book truly represents the person who
wrote it and that she only wants to help and develop others in their pursuit of a career as a VA.

I would seriously recommend this book as a starting point for any person considering becoming a VA. I can
guarantee you now, it will save you time, help you start "doing" instead procrastinating and coming up with
excuses. Go ahead, TAKE THAT FIRST STEP...

Format: Kindle Edition
As I was reading through Melinda's guide I kept finding myself feeling as if this guide was written specifically
for me. I was able to fully relate to her personal story and she hit on every pressure point I am currently finding
myself experiencing and even used some of the same phrases I have been finding myself using more and more
during the day. It was so refreshing having my feelings validated and a little whisper in my ear saying "There is a
better way to live."

I have been doing a lot of research, and have joined several groups, to learn more about virtual assisting and
how/where to even begin. In the depths of my digging I was finding myself very overwhelmed - to say the least.
Melinda's guide laid it all out so logically and informatively that you end feeling empowered, not left with the feeling
that you were just attacked by a fire hose.

She touches not only on the top questions people have such as; where do I find clients?! but also questions you
don't think of right away such as the legalities of beginning your own business.

Hands down, best guide I have read thus far on this topic. Thank you, Melinda, for putting this together and
helping shine the light for the rest of us who are trying to find the right path forward.

Hi Lovies! Another crazy good week- busy, busy but getting so much done over here!

This week I:

|| Designed + Ordered new Business cards!
|| Finally got GoDaddy email to be redirected to Gmail- now I have a dot com & it was free!
|| Talked with CPA about Business & what I can write off/Accounting Practices, etc.
|| Had two more new clients this week + 2 more VA Consultations for potential clients
|| Listed my business on every directory that I could find!
|| Completed accounting for the business
|| Booked weekend trip to the Beach! Shopping + Beach + Seafood- yes please!!
|| Signed up to try out Tailwind, after trying Buffer- I love how TW works so far!
|| Finished up a book that I was reading

Last night, I stayed up until 1:30 finishing up some work on a Holiday Guide List for a client- I had two coffees from Starbucks & there was no way that I was going to sleep anyway! It was really nice waking up this morning, only having to work on tweaking it.

Today was a pretty great day- it was the first day that I've actually had extra time to go walking or have any time for myself. Since the business start up part is behind me, I now have extra time to focus on marketing, work + some me time. Tomorrow, I have a couple of projects to work on in the morning, then I will be packing for our weekend trip to the beach!! So that's it pretty much- off to have some dinner + relax!

How has your week treated you?

Hello and Good Morning!! I was able to get quite a bit done yesterday. It was my day to focus on cleaning up my social media accounts and make them more visually appealing to potential clients. Here is what I was able to accomplish:

|| 10 minute photo session for designer to add photos to my new website
|| Emailed a potential client
|| Spent several hours on Pinterest- deleting old pins, re-organizing/re-arranging Pins to be more visually attractive & draw more followers
|| Upgraded to the Business Pinterest & also added Pinterest Widget to my Blog sidebar
|| Took a 30 minute nap to recharge
|| Designed a new header for my Facebook Blog page
|| Signed up for more Entrepreneur Facebook Groups (knowledge is power!)
|| Took Part 1 of a 7 Part Workshop - Get More Dream Clients using Facebook (some great tips!)
|| Put a hold order on Elizabeth Gilbert's new book, Big Magic-Creative Living Beyond Fear- so excited to read!!
|| Installed Latergram on my iPhone to schedule my Instagram Posts
|| Renewed my library books online
|| Made dinner for the hubby & took a 45 minute walk together

Today, I have a full schedule again- I am starting this morning off with some more online courses (Hashtag Traffic Generation, Growing your list of subscribers, Writing great Press Releases). I have a plan to take several courses per day so that I am knowledgeable in more areas and I can reach more potential clients. I also need to follow up with some potentials later and do a load of laundry/dishes. I love having a home office- it's so nice having the freedom to do what I like! I love how peaceful it is here and that helps me be so much more productive in getting things done!

Well, I'm off to work! Hope that you all have a fabulous Wednesday!!

Getting my Hustle On//

It's Day Two of being at home and I love it! Some people would probably get bored or not have enough things to fill their time, but not me- I have so many goals and things that I want to accomplish!

Here are some things that I accomplished on Day 1:

|| Made hubby breakfast and packed a lunch
|| Gave hubby a haircut
|| Had a healthy breakfast for once! Scrambled eggs + GF raisin toast + grapes  (usually have a banana or protein bar for breakfast)
|| Completed 8 Restaurant Reviews on Trip Advisor
|| Put up dishes
|| Washed bedding/made bed + another load of laundry
|| Cooked Chicken & Rice Casserole for dinner
|| Completed Blog Post
|| Listened to 1 Being Boss Podcast
|| Signed up for Photoshop Course
|| Fed the squirrels
|| Walked with the hubby for 20 minutes
|| Sent important emails RE: Blog & Career Opportunities
|| Hair Treatment
|| Made hair appointment at Madison Grove
|| Read 80% of "Nice Girls Can Finish Last"- I highly recommend this book to women are too nice and tend to not get back what they give to others and how they can change their behavior to get what they deserve! The author talks about you can still be nice, but be firm in what you ask for and expect in life and remove the people who take from you but are never there in your time of need.

This morning, I am currently listening to my second sermon of the day and finished reading my book from yesterday. I also just downloaded Photo Director 5 to start learning some new photo editing and I plan on beginning my Photoshop Course today as well so I can refresh my memory. So yes, busy day of learning ahead and I'm excited!

Hope you all are having a lovely day where-ever you are!
