My Life Being Renewed: Having Faith..

Having Faith..

July 12, 2014

I don't think I have ever been so busy and stressed in my life- I can't wait until everything is finished and we can move into our new home! I honestly I just don't have time in my life right now for anything- I barely have time for myself or my husband- I feel like I am stretched so thin and on the edge of losing it lately, which is a feeling that I really don't like. So now I know what being your own contractor feels like.

The next few weeks are going to be ridiculously overwhelming with trying to get everything moved, get the CO approval and finish up things even after we get moved in. I wish we had time to go & buy furniture for the house before we move in- but it will be pretty empty until we go shopping.

Here is what is going on with the house now:

Completed:
//Attic insulation installed
//Meter-box installed (by husband)
//House Insurance bonded/Renter's Insurance canceled for move out date
//Received our new hard-wood floors

Today:
//Garage Doors being installed
//Lowe's- choose & purchase tile, buy exterior lights
//Move 1 load of things.

This weekend:
//Install Tile
//Work on deck
//Install all interior doors
//Install attic ladder
//Move some things into garage
//Pack some more things

Next week:
//Move more things
//Lights being turned on (hopefully)
//Cabinets being completed
//Purchase plumbing supplies- toilet, faucets, shower hardware

Week of July 21st:
//Granite being installed Monday
//Plumbing being finished Tuesday
//Appliances being delivered Thursday

It is going to be a miracle to get moved in + lots of prayers! But once we get approved to move in, we still have to put the wood floors down and install shelving in the walk in closet and pantry- those are things that need to be done as soon as possible! I'm excited to get to that part of actually being in our new home.

  1. if I could give any advice when building and moving into the new home, i would be to take your time! We didn't rush and we were thankful we didn't. We've lived in our new build for over a year now and it's almost completely furnished and decorated; and that's okay that it took that long.

    1. I wish we could have had more time, some of our contractors got behind and we had to give our apartment a 30 day notice- as everyone knows, nothing in the construction world is ever on time! We are at the exciting part now- next week we will have granite, faucets, sinks- so excited to see it all coming together!

  2. That is such a busy time!! We're in the process of moving out right now--so we're living in an empty house...it might not be the most convenient, but it's doable, and soon, hopefully soon, the moving season will be over and you can enjoy your new place!

  3. Rachel, that is what we plan on doing, just have only the basics for a few days if we have to- good luck with your move as well! :-)

  4. Exciting! We just moved into our new house a few weeks ago. Projects are way more fun after you have moved in. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

  8. Moving in is definitely a lot of work, especially when it comes to hauling your stuff over, and taking care of the utilities in your new home. But before you could even come to that, there's still a ton of paperwork required, especially if you're selling the old property on top of buying a new one. It’s a good thing you were able to do all that already, and that it seems like everything got along without a hitch. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us, Melinda. All the best!
