My Life Being Renewed: Trying to obtain a healthy Work/Life Balance..

Trying to obtain a healthy Work/Life Balance..

April 28, 2012

Hi ya'll! It's been a long time since I have been able to blog- my job right now is crazy & I find that I have no time for a personal life. I'm trying to stick with it to see where it goes or if things get better, if not, I am going to have to find something that doesn't suck my whole life away from me! When we got back from our work trip this time, we only had 8 days off before going back to work and 2 of those days we have to go to meetings and then I had my ICC test on one day {which I passed btw!}. Even my sister was upset that I had hardly any days off, plus I have to use almost 1 day just to pack for our next work trip. I haven't had any time to see my family or plan a weekend trip/vacay. For now it's paying the bills and giving us work experience, new relationships, so I am trying to look at the positives.

In between working, I've been reading tons of motivational/success books, enjoying much needed coffees at Starbucks and some great places to eat in Texas {Chipotle, Taco Cabana, Taco Bueno, FreeBird, Orange Leaf Yogurt, Jason's Deli}! I do have to say that I really love Texas, although we haven't gotten much time to really visit and do fun things like I would like. If we do move later {once our house sells}, Texas will definitely be on my list of places.

We went and got froyo to celebrate me passing my ICC Test- Yay!

One downside to travelling for work is that I have no time left for exercise, this is something that I am not willing to compromise, so if the job stays at the pace that we are currently at, then it will be a dealbreaker for me. I failed at my April goal of eating more raw/healthy foods and exercising- but I am going to really work on it this month. I can always grab a salad or a green smoothie & fruit at the store- so I have no excuse.

I will say that whether the job works out or not that I've learned alot from it

I've become more open & people friendly/outgoing.

I finally was able to let go & let my sister watch my dog,Roscoe for me {I am a positive person, but I always think of the worst scenarios that could happen to him while I am gone- I am working on just praying over him and letting it go}

I learned that after working a 10-15 hour per day job that a regular 8-5 job is a piece of cake!!

I've learned that I do not want to take on too much work like I used to.

I've learned to appreciate the small things like coming back to a home after 5:00, having a cup of tea with family & friends, being able to go running, being able to get more sleep, having my weekends, having time to check my emails, watching my tv shows & most of all being able to have access to all of my cute clothes, shoes & accessories! I am going to bring some cute outfits with me on the road so that I can enjoy them more- we stay at a different hotel every night so I will have to bring things in and out but for me it's worth the trouble.

For the month of May, we have decided to let Roscoe stay home with my sister, so that the hubby and I can have a break to go out to dinner & have some time alone. When we take Roscoe, we have to bring him everywhere with us, to the patio at Starbucks, eating outside at Freebirds, etc. We can't go out to dinner, because we don't want to leave him at the hotel- and we definitely can't leave him in the car or take him inside the restaurant. It's alot of extra work, ordering his chicken, taking him walking, bathing him- all on top of trying to work long days- that's another reason that I'm not sure how this is all going to work out. We are on the road working for 20 or more days & I can't leave him home with my sister all of the time- right now, we are going to try to leave him 1 month with my sister then take him with us for 1 month and see how that works.

I apologize for this whole blog post being about work- but I just needed to get some things off of my chest! I do feel better now and I look forward to where my life is going to lead- just doing lots of praying- "For I know the plans I have for you, plans for a hope and a future."
